Repatriation
White Cross Repatriation Services
White Cross has experience and expertise in repatriation of sick or injured United Kingdom and Irish citizens from destinations predominantly in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific (on one occasion from Katmandu and another from Bangkok).
White Cross Repatriation Services has operated as an agent since 1999 for International Medical Rescue, providing doctors and nurses for the repatriation of sick or injured passengers throughout the Australasia and Pacific region.
Repatriation Services for sick or injured clients
- Repatriation to the United Kingdom (UK) for client's of International Medical Rescue from Australasia, New Zealand and the Pacific using medical staff based in New Zealand.
- Repatriation to New Zealand or Australia for UK client’s sick or injured in the Pacific region for assessment or definitive treatment.
- Reduced costs on repatriation flights booked at point of origin, through our strategic partner Whangarei Flight Centre.
- Specialised repatriations available for clients requiring Consultants eg Anesthetists and Intensive care specialists.
- Availability of medical staff to do pre flight assessments, or provide a second opinion regarding fitness of patient to fly.
Key points:
- Formed in 1999 in association with International Medical Rescue (London), 80 successful repatriations in this time.
- Repatriations have included patients who have suffered spinal injuries, strokes, cardiac and respiratory problems, head injuries, orthopedic injuries and psychiatric injuries (as examples).
- Area serviced – currently Australasia and South Pacific though happy to expand into the South East Asian areas (and others if required).
- Base staff of 20 – Doctors and nurses - but have available to us large workforce of WX and our allied work partners.
- Strategic alliance with Dianne Hall travel agent and owner of Whangarei Flight Centre – Travel Associates (data included).
- Equipment available – standard medical kit with variances for nursing and medical staff (see separate data).

Drug Testing
Evidential Drug Testing
LabPLUS, the Laboratory Service of Auckland City Hospital and White Cross Healthcare established a joint service for the collection and detection of drugs of abuse in urine in May 2006.
The service is for the evidential procedure for sample collection according to the standard AS/NZ 4308:2001, for which LabPLUS has accreditation. White Cross Healthcare offers collection services for pre-employment, workplace / employment, legal (Family court, Employment Court, ERA), visa applications, social services, and other such occasions where evidential collection and detection is required. The service is fee paying only with payment either at the time of collection by the donor or on account by the referring agency if pre-arranged with either LabPLUS or White Cross.
All evidential collections at selected White Cross centres are by appointment only.
White Cross also has an arrangement to provide evidential collections to be processed through ESR Laboratories at its Otahuhu and Henderson clinics.
In-Clinic Urine Drug Screening
A new service offering greater convenience and less down time when screening prospective applicants.
The test is done in the clinic and results can be read at 5 minutes indicating either a negative result or that further testing is required.
All in clinic collections at selected White Cross centres are by appointment only and are fee paying only with payment either at the time of collection by the donor or on account by the referring agency if pre-arranged with White Cross.

Injury Management & Recovery
The ability to direct your staff to White Cross to manage any injury, we are fully ACC accreditated, so we can provide optimal patient care but also provide you with certainty of treatment and manage expectations of down time.
We can also provide relevant to your organisation alternative duties assessment or in the case of another practitioners review second assessment, to assist in the optimum patient management. |

Vaccination Programmes
Influenza Vaccinations
White Cross offers in clinic flu vaccination services during the “flu season”.
Prepaid vouchers can be supplied to your company enabling employees to be immunized at any White Cross clinic 24/7 during the Influenza programme season.
Preventative Healthcare
As part of Health and Safety awareness in the workplace, White Cross is able to offer immunisation for Hepatitis A, B, Tetanus, Polio and Typhoid for employees where there is a risk of exposure. |

- Became an incorporated society in 1995
- Medical Council recognition as a branch of medicine in 2000.
Membership
- Consists of doctors who work in community Clinics and hospital Emergency Departments.
- Approximately 170 members, 30% hospital / 70% community.
Goals
- To advance the delivery of quality patient care.
- To represent its members to statutory bodies, government, the media and other entities.
- To foster research in Accident and Medical care.
